Thornbird ARC Review

Thornbird by E. Kennedy

The world is hunting for answers. But what if the truth leads straight to you?

Ryan Shipley is back in Starling, Tennessee. It’s been ten years since her father, the infamous serial killer Gabriel Thorn, was caught. No one can know who Ryan really is. No one can know the truth about her past.

But as fresh eyes dig deeper into the case, old secrets refuse to stay buried. Cryptic texts, eerie coincidences, and a chilling note leave everyone wondering – does Ryan know more than she’s letting on? As the truth unravels, one thing becomes clear: in a town full of secrets, Ryan might be the biggest mystery of them all.

I am forever grateful that I get to receive books early from authors & review them! E. Kennedy aka Elle Kennedy is one of my most favorite authors so to be able to get one of her books early & read it makes me SO happy!

Let’s get into it..

This book grabbed me immediately & I couldn’t stop thinking about it! All the twists, turns & OMG moments made this probably one of my favorites I’ve read this year!

It starts right out the gate with the FMC (female main character) Ryan returning to the town she left after her mother was murdered & her father was arrested for murdering 7 women (including her mother). It’s almost 10 years since the arrest but Ryan is a minor so has to go live with family after her grandmother passes. She stays with her estranged aunt, uncle & 2 cousins that are right around her age. Her mother, grandma & aunt didn’t see eye to eye so Ryan doesn’t really know her family she is going to stay with.

Ryan, her aunt, & her uncle are the only ones that know about her past & she is forced to be quiet about it all & not tell anyone who she really is. A lot of questions about who she is & where she came from begin to swirl. The 10 year anniversary of when her father was arrested and charged for the murders begins to swirl again around town which causes a lot of unease for Ryan & her secret of who she really is. The town is obsessed with the case about her father.

There is a love triangle situation which I loved & loved that Ryan wasn’t a boy crazy teen that wanted to be with a guy just to be with a guy. She stayed independent, confident & focused on herself. There was defiently one of the guys that I liked more & rooted for the whole time!

I loved how this story ended, loved how it kept me guessing the whole time, & some of the details were so real that I felt like I was in this book. The details were incredible & I felt like I could picture exactly what the scenes looked like in my head.

Bravo Elle! You outdid yourself if I do say so myself!

This book comes out on June 30th & I cannot recommend it enough!
