Welp. It’s happened. I’m in the newspaper. Our states largest newspaper. Insert screaming & freaking out. Let me start out by saying that I am very much someone who has imposter syndrome. I don’t think what I do is anything to write home about—but really.. look around there is so many influencers, cake decorators, etc.. but I’m really trying to be better about it.. I’m trying to realize — I built my IG from the ground up, I obviously am doing something that people like + want to see, & I built a community. All of that I am so thankful for!
Victoria from the Des Moines Register reached out in the beginning of December asking if I wanted to be interviewed for their monthly local influencer feature for January. Obviously when I saw the message I thought I was getting punked LOL. Because WOW. Obviously I said I would be honored & to let me know what to do next. We met for coffee a week later to go over the basics & what all I needed to do for the article.
I told very few people about it because again.. imposter syndrome. But gosh telling those people made me so happy & makes me so happy that I have a group of people always cheering me on regardless. Victoria came over right after the new year which was really nice because it gave me an excuse to get my Christmas/New Year stuff down so I could put Valentine’s Day up since that’s the feel they wanted for the article.
She came over to the house, asked questions, & I decorated a cake. Easy, simple & fun. They even reached out to my very best friend for some info about me to get another opinion in the piece & I’m forever happy that she was apart of this because she’s always been one of the people cheering me on & supporting me since the beginning of all this!
The story went live on their Facebook + website yesterday (January 23rd) & will be printed on Monday in the actual paper! Such a cool feeling & I can’t wait to see it in print.
As for now, everyone who is now coming here & seeing my space because of the article — HELLO! I’m so thankful you are here & I can’t wait for whatever else is to come!
