Another good month of reads! I tried to get a good amount of spooky/suspense/triller books in there since it was spooky season & I’m glad I did.
We are on the final countdown for reads of the year. I have still a few to go til the end of the year & I’m trying to listen + read a physical copy right now to get ahead. It’s working well & I’m loving being and audible girlie too. It’s nice to listen to books when I do my daily long walk or I’m in the car for a long time.
I rate each book on stars. 5 being the best & 1 being the lowest! If I have an ARC that I read in the month I have a review on the website already posted most likely! Let’s get into it..
- The Romance Line (Love & Hockey #2) by Lauren Blakely— This was an ARC & I posted a whole post about it here.. https://daniellepaschka.com/2024/10/06/the-romance-line-arc-review/ 5 stars.
2. Everyone Here Is Lying by Shari Lapena—I read this for my book club & it kept me wanting to keep reading! There was a lot of layers and people in this story but the author kept it so well organized I thought! There are for sure some characters I couldn’t stand but at the same time I didn’t think who it was the person! I hated the little girl in it— even before everything all happened. ALSO so many of the times I wanted to shake the characters lol but I’d chalk that up to good writing! I will definitely read another book by this author. 3 stars.
3. Home Is Where the Bodies Are by Jeneva Rose— This was a really good read. A lot of twists and turns. I was not expecting what happened at the end. I liked everyone’s side stories & how the entire story unfolded. I highly recommend if you like suspense & thriller. 4 stars.
4.How My Neighbor Stole Christmas by Meghan Quinn— I read this as an ARC & freaking no surprise how much I loved it! SO GOOD & definitely a must read for Christmas! Here is the review here — https://daniellepaschka.com/2024/10/18/how-my-neighbor-stole-christmas-arc-review/ 5+ stars.
5. Sunlight (Haven River Ranch #2) by Devney Perry— I was so excited to be back at Haven Ranch! This is book 2 in the series & I hope that there is a book 3! I seriously love all these characters in this series & how we get to know so many of them more & more in this book. Sasha was such a good female character & I loved getting to know her. How sad with everything she had to endure at the age of 18– my heart hurt for her! I love how she finally found her family & seeing her story become good after years of her thinking everything has gone wrong. Jax was literally one of my favorite male main characters Devney has written. He was the absolute sweetest. So patient & kind. I just loved him so much. Also him as a daddy… gooooodness! The spice, the lies & truths, all of it.. so good. I’ll always read anything Devney puts out at this point! I hope there is a #3! 4.5 Stars.
6. First Lie Wins by Ashley Easton— This was a great one! I couldn’t get enough of what was happening & unfolding. I kept waiting and waiting to try and figure it out until being shocked by the outcome. I thought for sure Mr.Smith was one person the whole time but I was wrong.. I loved how smart the FMC was getting to see the flashbacks to what made her the person she was today. This is one I will definitely recommend & one of my top reads of the year! 5 Stars.
7. Funny Feelings by Tarah Dewitt— I’ve been wanting to read this for a long time & was glad I finally did! The entire book had me swooning.. seriously the freaking cutest characters & how they fit into each others lives from the start. I love the back and forth through time. I love the built up tension (but took a star off because I think it could have been cut down a little). The nicknames, her relationship with his daughter, the signing, the spice, the tattoo. I’m such a sucker for a secret tattoo. I can’t handle it. I cant wait to read more by Tarah! 4 stars.
8. Butcher & Blackbird by Brynne Weaver— I freaking loved this book. I have been wanting to read it for a long time so I’m glad I finally did. I mostly listened to it & it was really probably why I loved it so much! The audio was seriously probably one of the best audios I’ve ever listened to. It probably made me fall in love with the book so much more! It was really wild & twisty. Dark but also funny. It just was a really good combo of all the things. The spice was spicing, the banter was so good & the slow burn was burninggggg. I couldn’t get enough! I can’t wait to read the next one in the series. Make sure you read the trigger warnings. 5 stars.
9. Satan’s Affair by H.D. Carlton— If you’ve read Haunting & Hunting Adeline… you know the vibe of this book. This is about the Halloween fair that Sibby is at & shows more about Sibby + her dealings with the fair. It gives some of her backstory which is good to know since Sibby is such a wildcard. It also shows how Zade & Sibby meet. It’s short, intense & the same vibe if you are reading HA. 3 stars.
I can’t wait for more reads this month & start reading more + more Christmas! As always follow me on IG or GoodReads to be up to date with what I’m reading or books I’m buying!
