So I wrote the other day that it was my 2 year book journey anniversary.. WELL on August 7th, 2022 I finished the book “It Ends with Us” by Colleen Hoover. On August 7th, 2024 I saw the movie “It Ends with Us”. I loved the book & how much it got me excited about reading more & more. It was the 2nd book in my reading journey & it made an impact but also got me to start looking more & more for other authors.
My friends & I have talked about since the trailer came out about going to all see it together. I found thee perfect tableware from Jollity & Co. the other month & I’ve been saving it for this time. It’s a book lovers dream. I got flowers to match the tableware, made cookies like Atlas did in the movie, got Betty Buzz since it’s Blake Lively’s brand, put brown paper down as a runner/tablecloth like you would use to wrap up flowers, printed out a copy of the book cover & got wine bottles that had a floral theme to them to match Lily Blooms! I think it really tied together perfectly!
I’m not gonna lie.. I was very nervous about this movie when the previews etc came out. Blake is older than Lily was in the book. Ryle is not who I pictured. But now after seeing the movie it all fits. I thought the movie was really great. It followed the book very well from what I can remember but then again it was 2 years ago that I read it.. but I’d say I remembered everything pretty well.
There was things in the book that were not talked about in the movie which after discussing with friends I’m seeing different opinions about it too. Obviously movies are sped up more with timelines than books, and books have more details. Books will always be better for the detail factor alone!
I 10/10 recommend going to the film, throwing a floral reading inspired happy hour beforehand & enjoying it with your girlfriends!
