Two Years of My Reading Journey

Today — 2 years ago.. I finished my first book. I mean obviously I’ve read books before but it had been YEARS. I decided one day that I need to get off my phone more, show the girls it is fun to read & just do a little self care from all the hustle & bustle of life so reading helps block all of that & I can escape!

I typically read romance with a hint of suspense or thriller mixed in sometimes! Through this journey I have read from so many fun authors & have talked to some of them on social media. I am now an ARC (advanced readers copy) reader for a lot of authors which is honestly such a honor. I get the books that are about to be released early so I can read them, review them & then help promote them!

I fall in love with so many books now that I’m so obsessed with so many authors who deserve all the praise because I don’t really know how they do it.. the stories in their heads that they can put to paper is truly fascinating!

Since starting this journey both of the girls have thrived with reading. Aria struggled a lot in 1st grade after 2020 happened & we were so worried & I was feeling like I failed her. She now is always above grade level & so is her sister. I truly do think a lot of it has to do with me picking up books & showing them how much I enjoy it.

We go to the library almost weekly, they always check out the book section when we are at a store if they have one & we always are making time for our books now! I’m just so thankful they love reading as much as me & can see how fun it is to read & make those connections with books!

I am trying to read 115 books this year. I read 108 last year. & Aug.6th-Dec.31st 2022 I read 38 books. I am at #67 right now. My list of books is forever long, I’m always buying new ones, I need a new book shelf or stop buying books according to Craig! All in all to say that reading has stuck with me & I honestly wish I could have started this so much sooner!

Reading has also brought me multiple new friends & new connections with people. I love talking to people about the books we either are both reading or books coming out. It’s just so fun to have so many relationships now having to do with books & the book world. I’m forever grateful.

I will always celebrate this day & as I always say.. big or small— I will always celebrate it! I hope you do too!
