Books I Read in January

Hi friends!

Today is the last day of January & I just started a new book but for sure won’t be finishing it to make it apart of the January reads! I read 7 books this month, not terrible but also need to step my game up if I am going to meet my goal by the end of the year! My goal is 115.. my GoodReads is yelling at me & saying I am 2 books behind but oh well LOL I will get there!

Here is a run down of what I read, how many stars I gave them (1 being worst, 5 being best) & a snippet of what I liked about the book!

  1. Same Time Next Year by Tessa Bailey – 4 stars. A sweet, super spicy new years novella! I love a smitten MMC (male main character) that won’t take no for an answer! If you need a short little story to you out of a reading rut this could be it!
  2. Sable Peak (The Edens #6) by Devney Perry – 5++++ stars. MY HEART. This entire series was just wonderful. I honestly couldn’t say enough good things about it! The mystery/suspense every story had plus all the romance. Ugh sign me up every time! Vera & Mateo were the most perfect ending to this wonderful series. I loved their love. I loved how smitten Vera was for Mateo. I loved the nicknames, the family dynamic, every single thing I loved. I can’t rave enough! Please read this series this year. I cant say it enough!
  3. Just the Nicest Couple by Mary Kubica- 3 stars. I read Local Woman Missing by Mary and absolutely loved it so therefore I had super high expectations for this one which was probably a mistake.. I honestly liked it but it pissed me off a lot too. There was a lot of holes & things would have worked out better for everyone if they would have just communicated which I’m sure was a reason for the writing. I get it was just a book but goodness, sometimes you just want to shake the characters!
  4. Forget Me Not by Julie Soto- 4.5 stars. I LOVED IT. This was the first book I’veread by this author & honestly I can’t wait to read another by her! This was seriously so good, so sweet, spicy & funny! I laughed, I swooned & felt the heartbreak at one point with the characters! I loved the story, I loved the characters, & I loved that it was a DPOV but like the present time was her & the past time was him. It was just really cool how she wrote it. Definitely glad I grabbed this from my library!
  5. None of This Is True by Lisa Jewell- 4.5 stars. This was my first Lisa Jewll & I will have high expectations for others I read by her! I loved his one. So many twists, turns, & what ifs! There was a couple things I would have done differently but that’s why I’m not the author! LOL We read this for our book club which I most definitely recommend for a book club because it was so fun to hear other peoples thoughts & perspectives! We all agreed on some things but also mad us look at things another way! If you like darker thriller & suspense I definitely recommend!
  6. Happenstance by Tessa Bailey- 2 stars, DNF. I have about 75 pages left but I need to be done.. I can’t. I didn’t love the plot if there was any actually, how it was written & one of the men truly irritated the heck out of me! It was a lot & I really hate that I didn’t love it because I always love Tessa books!
  7. The End Zone (Out of Bounds #2) by Erin MacKenzie- 5 stars. First ARC of the year & I wrote a whole blog post about it here! https://daniellepaschka.com/2024/01/30/the-end-zone-arc/

That’s all for January! Ready to get a least 10 read in February! Wish me luck!
