Whew! August was filled with so many good books! I read a lot that I’ve had on my TBR (to be read) list for awhile! I took full advantage of the traveling I did & read so much during it.. There is so many more I want to read & so many new ones coming out this month! I’m going to give a brief detail on how I felt about the book & star them 1-5 stars, 5 being the best & 1 being the worst!
Here is what I read..
- Does It Hurt? by H.D. Carlton Woooof this was my first dark romance book & let me tell you.. It was wild. It was super spicy which I expected & took lots of dark turns. This one is definitely not for the faint of heart at all so if you don’t like spicy books or dark thriller types I’d say this book is not for you! Obviously it wasn’t my favorite but it kept me entertained LOL 3 Stars.
2. The Summer Girl by Elle Kennedy Okayyyy I LOVED this one! It was so sweet, funny & I have yet to read an Elle Kennedy book I don’t LOVE. This is a 3rd book of a series & though you don’t need to read the other books to read this one it was nice to know some of the names of the characters that were in this book that are in the others. I related a lot to this book because of the step-mom & dad dynamic but that’s a story for another day. A great summer read! 5 stars.
3. The Push by Ashley Audrain I read this book on the start of my California vacation with my mom & aunt. It was honestly like no other book I’ve ever read. It was depressing but I couldn’t put it down. A lot of WTF moments. I wanted to get it done because I needed to know what the end was going to be. So many people have recommended this book & I can see why! I needed to completely decompress this book & talk to my mom + aunt about this when I was done even though they didn’t read it — I needed to talk to someone! 3.5 stars.
4. Hooked by Emily McIntire Alright another dark romance but I did enjoy it. A lot of like Peter Pan names which was fun for the whole “Hook” theme. The guy in the story kind of drove me nuts but whatever. Again if you don’t like spicy or dark things — I wouldn’t recommend. But if you do, then I would! 3 stars.
5. The Way I Hate Him by Meghan Quinn This is one of my favorite books I read this year hands down. I loved the characters, the banter, the town, honestly everything. At this point if you haven’t read a Meghan Quinn book you are doing yourself a disservice. She has wrote some of my favorite books. THEY ARE SO GOOD. I’m thinking this is the start of a new series with this book so I can’t wait for more from this series! 5 stars.
6. Hello Stranger by Katherine Center This was such a cute one! I really loved the story & the main characters interactions with people. It was super unique & not like something I’ve read before which I always love! No spice so if you are in the mood for a feel good rom com — this is for you! I liked this one a lot more than another book I read by this same author last month! 4 stars.
7. The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata I’ve seen this book all over IG. I really liked it but I was hoping the spice factor would have showed up a little earlier. Extremely sloooooow burn. It seemed real rushed at the end after a ton of back and forth with the 2 main characters. There is definitely times I wish there was dual POVs— I’d say this would have been helpful! 4 stars.
8. The Only One Left by Riley Sager This was our book club book this month. It was a good thriller/suspense book! First one I’ve read by this author. I thought the end got a little wild & over the top. Lots of things happening. Other than that I really enjoyed it! 3.75 stars.
9. The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker THIS ONE WAY WONDERFUL. I loved this one so DANG much. It was funny, sad, sweet, all the feels. It made me want to go visit Alaska. There are 3 more books in this series & I can’t wait to read them soon! I loved how the author wrote as well! 5 stars.
10. Done & Dusted by Lyla Sage I am very much still in my cowboy romance era! This one did not disappoint. I wish there was more details about them & their growing friendship/romance as it seems like a lot of times in books everything is so rushed. I don’t love that but I understand. I just needed a little bit more! 4 stars.
I was so happy I got 10 books read this month! I am 5 away from my 75 goal on good reads for the year! Can’t even believe it! As always follow me over there on Good Reads or my Instagram stories where I always share what I read! If you have any recommendations send them my way!
